TERRY GREENBLATT

Executive Director

Ms. Greenblatt joined UAF in July 2008 as Executive Director and CEO. She has previously served as the executive director of Bat Shalom in Jerusalem, and as founding “Activist in Residence” for the Global Fund for Women in San Francisco. She also sits as a Trustee of the Sarvodaya Gandhi International Trust in India. Ms. Greenblatt has been a women's rights and peace and justice activist in Israel for over 20 years. She is a recipient of the  Ms. Magazine ‘Woman of the Year’, 'Colombe D’oro Per La Pace',  and ‘Dialogue on Diversity Liberty' awards, and is one of the 1000 Women for Peace nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.  She speaks nationally and internationally on the responsibility of women as agents of both social and political change.

SAIRA HAMIDI

Program Officer

Saira joined the Fund in October 2008 after moving from Cairo where she worked with the America-Mideast Educational and Training Services on project with Iraqi students pursuing post-graduate degrees. She also volunteered with the Africa and Middle East Refugee Assistance to provide translation to legal advisors for refugees seeking asylum.

In addition to her work experience in Egypt, she has also studied and worked in Germany and Sweden. She received her MA in Middle East and South Asian Languages and Cultures from Columbia University and her BA in Sociology with a minor in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Colorado at Boulder. While in Boulder she served as the director of the student and community organization the Coalition for Justice in Palestine. She is fluent in English, Urdu/Hindi, and Swedish and has a strong command of Arabic and Spanish. She has also studied German and Italian.

TRENA MOYA

Director - Finance and Operations

Trena joined Urgent Action Fund in 2001 with an extensive administrative and financial background, having worked in the banking industry for fifteen years. After leaving the financial arena in 1997, she obtained a B.A. in Spanish and worked for a Latino-focused non-profit organization in Denver, Colorado prior to coming to UAF. Trena participates in projects with Volunteers for Outdoor Colorado and enjoys hiking, biking and international travel.

CLARE MURRAY

Office Manager

Clare Murray joined the Fund in July 2008. She comes to us after working seven years in the medical field at two primary care offices. She has previously worked in administration as well as the environmental research field. She has also travelled and lived in Egypt, southeast Asia, and India. When Clare is not at work, she enjoys taking advantage of the Colorado outdoors by rock-climbing, camping, and trail-running with her Saint Bernard.

KEELY TONGATE

Program Officer

Keely Tongate joined UAF as Jr. Program Officer in October 2006.  Keely has strong international experience, having worked as a legal intern in Moldova with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees and in Turkey as a policy/advocacy intern for Caritas Turkey, Refugee Division.  While in this latter position, she wrote a report that is currently being used to advocate for Iraqi asylum seekers in Turkey.  Keely received her M.A. in International Human Rights with a Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the University of Denver in 2006.

ERIKA CARLSON

Development Officer, Philanthropic Partnerships

Erika joined UAF in January 2010. She has a diverse background in nonprofit fundraising in Seattle and the Boulder area, with experience in grantwriting, donor communications, and donor stewardship. Erika spent two years as Development Associate at Global Greengrants Fund, an international environmental and human rights funder. Erika received her bachelor's degree in International Political Economy at the University of Puget Sound while researching women's empowerment  in Latin America. She also holds an MPA with an emphasis in Nonprofit Management from the University of Washington's Evans School of Public Affairs. Concurrent with her studies, she worked on evaluations of a low-income savings program and Washington State's welfare to work program.

KRIS ABRAMS

Communications & Individual Giving

Kris lives and works for a society in which we treat each other and the natural world with dignity, respect, and love. She got her start in activism by producing the national, independent radio/TV newshour Democracy Now! from the time George W. Bush took power through the invasion of Iraq. She then moved to Boulder, CO to lead KGNU’s campaign to expand into Denver, and then, worked with community leaders in Denver to launch Let Us Rise, a grassroots organization which aims to create a positive vision for the communities we yearn for, via participatory democratic engagement. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience from Brown University, and her Masters in Economic and Social History from Oxford University as a Rhodes Scholar. She loves hiking, backpacking, the mountains, and dance.

COURTNEY ZENNER

Program Associate

Courtney joined UAF in May 2010. Courtney brings strong international experience to the Grantmaking Team, as she has lived, studied and taught in China, North India, Nepal and Tibet periodically over the past ten years. She has worked to support the Tibetan refugee community of Dharamsala, India as both a student and staff member of Emory University's Tibetan Studies Program. She received her B.A. in Middle East and Asian Languages and Cultures from Barnard College of Columbia University and speaks Mandarin and some French.
